Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) is South Africa’s only university solely dedicated to health sciences education. Located in Ga-Rankuwa, north of Pretoria, SMU is known for producing top-tier health professionals who serve both local and global communities.

SMU was established in 2015, succeeding the Medunsa Campus of the University of Limpopo. It integrates academic excellence, community engagement, and scientific research to train medical, dental, nursing, and allied health professionals.
