About the college

Bridging education and industry in Gqeberha

Port Elizabeth TVET College (PE College) is one of South Africa's 50 public TVET colleges, based in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape. It's dedicated to developing practical, workplace-ready skills through National Certificate (Vocational) — NCV — and NATED (Report 191) programmes designed to bridge the gap between educational attainment and what industry actually needs.

The college runs across three main campuses plus additional sites and an admin office, and welcomes applicants of all backgrounds, including people living with disabilities. Both NCV and NATED programmes are fully accredited for NSFAS funding, meaning qualifying South African students can study without personal fees.

Applications are submitted online, and every applicant must complete the compulsory PACE placement test as part of the process.

Before you start

  • Check your chosen programme's entry requirements on the official PE College website.
  • Have your ID and results certified at a police station, within the past 3 months.
  • Set aside time to complete the compulsory PACE Test — it's required for a complete application.

Submit online

  1. Go to pecollege.edu.za and find the online application section.
  2. Complete the form and select your preferred campus and programme.
  3. Upload your certified, clearly scanned documents and your PACE Test result.
  4. Submit before 30 September 2026, and follow up with the college to confirm receipt.

NCV or NATED?

PE College offers two main qualification routes, plus occupational programmes tied to specific trades.

NQF 2–4

NCV — National Certificate (Vocational)

For 2027, PE College is accepting applications for NCV Level 2 programmes across its campuses — suited to students who have passed Grade 9 and want a vocational alternative to matric.

N4 – N6

NATED (Report 191)

More specialised and generally costs more than NCV. NATED Engineering Studies in particular requires Maths and Physical Sciences and offers an advanced route into technical careers.

What is the PACE Test?
