About the college

Sasolburg Technical, Kroonstad Technical & Mphohadi, united in 2000

Flavius Mareka TVET College was formed in 2000 through the merger of Sasolburg Technical College, Kroonstad Technical College and Mphohadi College of Education. The college is named after Mr Flavius Mareka, a prominent figure in educational, cultural and political circles who lived in Kroonstad and passed away in 1965.

Today the college serves the Fezile Dabi District of the Free State, with its Sasolburg campus acting as the engineering and business powerhouse for Sasolburg, Vaalpark, Zamdela and the surrounding industrial Vaal Triangle area — earning it the local nickname "Sastech" for its strong Sasol-linked practical training. The college also takes learnerships and skills programmes out to smaller Free State towns, including Heilbron, Parys, Koppies and Villiers.
