2027 Intake · KwaZulu-Natal's Largest TVET College
Apply to Coastal KZN TVET College — hands-on training across Durban and the coast.
Coastal KZN is the largest TVET college in KwaZulu-Natal, serving around 15,000 full-time students across eight campuses from Ozwathini in the north to Scottburgh on the South Coast. Home to the Toyota Manufacturing Academy and a nationally recognised Tooling Centre of Excellence, it's a route into real, industry-linked skills. Applying is free — here's exactly what you need, and by when.

About the college
Formed from three technical colleges, serving all of coastal KZN
Coastal KZN TVET College emerged from the merger of the former Durban Technical College, Swinton Road Technical College and Umlazi Technical College, together with the former Umbumbulu and Appelsbosch Colleges of Education. That history gives the college a deep well of technical know-how across both trades and teaching, and today it's the largest TVET college in KwaZulu-Natal, employing around 800 staff and serving a catchment area stretching roughly 80 kilometres from Ozwathini in the north to Scottburgh on the South Coast.
At the Swinton Campus in Mobeni, students train at the Toyota Manufacturing Academy on the same equipment used on real factory floors, while the Samsung Engineering Academy delivers specialist air-conditioning and refrigeration training, and the Tooling Centre of Excellence and Steel Fabrication workshops make Coastal KZN one of the best places in Africa to train as a toolmaker.
